What are the components of a quality Nonprofit Budget?  

There are 2 essential sections: Revenue & Expenditures

1.       Revenue is by type --- Donations, grants, and other income sources…

2.       Expenditures are line item expenses and have 3 components: 

Component 1---Salaries; Salary section is in 2 parts

a.        Gross salaries

b.       Fringe benefits (payroll taxes, health benefits, retirement, worker’s compensation,..)     NEXT ·        

Component 2-----Operation and Maintenance (list of expenses) ·

Component 3 -----Administration Overhead also known as Indirect Cost

As President of East Bay Professional Experience Network (East Bay PEN), an organization of professional job seekers working together to eliminate the frustrating roadblocks facing today’s unemployed. We demonstrate ways and techniques to present transferable, hard and soft, skills, experiences, and accomplishments more effectively to hiring managers! East Bay PEN, supported by Oakland’s Private Industry Council (OPIC), members manage and maintains its program by hosting weekly membership meetings, often with industry guest speakers, delivering information and trends on job seeking and professional development topics. East Bay PEN, works closely with Kat Maudru, Community Relations Manager of The Job Journal and in partnership with ABC7 News at its HIREvents by reviewing résumés at its’ Job Fairs throughout the Bay Area: Solano County, Concord, Emeryville, and San Francisco. We performed these same tasks at job fairs presented by Congresswoman Barbara Lee’s Career Expo at Laney College, and the State of California’s “Honor a Hero, Hire a Vet” at Oakland’s Events Center at the Cathedral. Research shows that 85% of professionals find new or transitional employment through networking. East Bay PEN provides a forum to develop and expand your job search network. The synergy of our members, working together, achieves greater results than can be realized working alone. Our approach is simple and built on the concept that high morale is the key to energizing the job search; members help one another maintain a positive mental attitude through these challenging times. Members receive peer-to-peer support, critical in navigating the otherwise lonely process of job hunting. Which bring me to the question of the nonprofit budget templetes for our organization. I and one other person have attempted to create a true budget plan. I will mention, as an unemployed individual, my goal is to make East Bay PEN an viable organization by providing a suitable documentation (budgetary form)in place. I have researched extensively for documentation, but listening to you on KBLX has simplified the proper steps we may need to take. Could you help us out? Lorenzo Blades, President
